Man, I did not know WHAT to list this under. If there were a found objects category? Or a sculptural fanwork one? Hmmh.
I have been playing around with green stuff for a while now, albeit with few fully completed results. Nevertheless, I love the stuff.
But I had never tried to mod anything before. Yet there I was in the gaming store, contemplating a little Reaper wolf and companion ranger. And I sez to myself, I sez, "Man, that would make a great Amaterasu!" So I buy it, and scuttle home giggling the whole while.
A few days after I get back from Christmas break, and I've got the base figure completed. I widened the cheeks, added to the shoulders, heels, and tail. I added a reflector to the top and, yes, I even added a little Issun by her back paw! He's very hard to make out, since he's so tiny.
It takes me another two days to paint up. I really took my time with it, too, to get as much fine detail as I could in. It doesn't show in the photo, but Issun even has a painted face, with eyes and everything.
In total the figure is four centimeters from snout to tail tip.
Man I loved that video game. It's such a shame that Capcom disbanded Clover.
Yes, Reaper did the base miniature, and the characters are from Capcom's "Okami" game. Not my characters.
Wow that looks so cool!! I also love how you got Issun on there. I just saw the little green and blue dot on the bottom and I'm like "what is that?" Then I realized it is Issun because who else would be with Ammy?
As far as where it belongs, given you have a mix of found cast and sculpture, I'd put it under 'mixed media'. Where you have it is a good choice too. ^^
You ought to take a macro picture of Issun - I'd sure like to see the detail! Nicely done
At the time I didn't have a good enough camera to zoom in that much. XD I might give it a shot now....but it's still going to be iffy! He's only a millimeter or two tall.
Green stuff is an epoxy based sculpting medium that comes as a blue and yellow strip of putty that you mix together. It cures over time and it's excellent for detail. It's actually what companies use to make prototypes for pewter minis. It bonds to whatever you stick it on, so you don't need to glue it or anything.
You should be able to find it at hobby stores. Places that carry wargaming figurines, maybe model train/car places. Some brands aren't green, but are a yellowish white. Most of them are, though. It's not cost effective for large sculptures since it's usually $10 a strip, but good for small figs.
this is nice! *stares at it in beauty then eyes wander off onto the red top of animal food....* IS THAT FROG FOOD?! lol it looks like my aquatic frogs food things. Anywho...Beautiful Ammy here

What is the "green stuff" you used and how does it stick?
I want to try that out
The details your were able to make is amazing!
